Yarn

For this free crochet pattern for a flower garland, you will need:

Scheepjes Catona, 100% Cotton, 25g, 62m/68yds

I used the shades Green Yellow 245, Lemonade 403, and Bluebird 247 for my garland.

Yarn Alternatives

This pattern is designed to be used with 4ply/sport weight yarn, but you can substitute for any that you prefer. You only really need small amounts of the colours, so now is the perfect time to use yarn from your stash! Whilst I used cotton, you can equally use acrylic or wool for this design. Just remember to adjust your hook size to match if necessary.

Yarn and Colors Must-Have, 100% Cotton (50g/1.76oz, 125m/137yds)

Comfy Sport, 75% Pima Cotton, 25% Acrylic (50g/1.76oz, 125m/136yds)

Premier Cotton Fair Solids, 52% cotton/48% acrylic (100g/3.5oz, 290m/317yds)

You can read the spring landscapes pattern for free on the blog in US crochet terms. The blog has ads on it, which is how I am able to offer it for free. Please do bookmark the page and come back to it as you work on your pattern though, rather than trying to print it out. Spending time on this page is how I get paid.

Alternatively you can purchase a premium pdf version of the pattern, which includes schematic, stitch tutorials, links to lots of video tutorials and full explanations. The premium pattern comes in US and UK terms. And of course, if you purchase the pattern, it is yours to keep, print and make notes on too.

PLEASE NOTE: The premium pattern is a pdf crochet pattern, written in English. It is not a finished project. You will receive a digital download upon completion of purchase.

Tension:

Gauge is not essential; as this is a small project, make a flower and leaf and see if it comes out to the right size.

Magic Ring (MR)

The magic ring is a fantastic way to start crocheting in amigurumi, and any crochet in the round. It can be a bit complicated though, so do check out my magic ring YouTube tutorial for a visual guide.

  • Lay the tail end of the yarn over your palm and wrap the ball end around your first 2 fingers. Cross the yarn over and hold that point with your thumb and forefinger. 2. Pull the loop off your fingers, insert your hook into the hole and grab the ball end of the yarn with your hook. 3. Pull the yarn back through the loop. At this point, readjust your hand so you are holding the yarn as you normally would. 4. Put your middle finger and ring finger into the loop to hold it. Then yarn over and pull through to secure your ring.

You can then start crocheting into the ring in the normal way.

3 crochet springs landscapes are laid out on a wooden table with a hand next to them.

The Spring Landscape crochet picture set features three coordinating crochet landscape panels — a hillside, a lake, and a beach scene, — plus 14 mix-and-match appliqué motifs.

US Terminology.

Start by making the crochet forget-me-not flowers and leaves. You can make as many as you like. I made one more leaf than I made flowers.

Make your forget-me-not crochet flowers here.

And then crochet your leaves here.

Once you have all your elements, you will need to join them together to make your crochet flower garland, as follows:

Time needed: 1 hour

  1. First create a chain. You want your chain to be the same length at each end, as well as between the flowers and leaves. I made 20 chains at the start and end of the garland, and 10 chains between each motif. Leave a long end for hanging up your garland.
    Image 1: chain 20.
Image 2: insert your hook into a loop on the back of a flower.
Image 3: yarn over and pull through the flower and the loop on your hook as a slip stitch.
    Image 4: chain 10.

  2. Now add a leaf.
Image 5: insert hook into the top of the leaf from front to back.
Image 6: yarn over and pull loop through the leaf and through the loop on your hook.
    Image 7: chain 10.
Continue repeating the steps in images 2 to 7 to create your garland.
I finished on a leaf and the chained 20 before fastening off and leaving a long end for hanging your garland.
