When it’s cold and miserable outside, I love to decorate my home with forest magic! This woodland wreath is inspired by winter walks and all the tiny, beautiful treasures you find under the trees — acorns, toadstools, ivy, eucalyptus and more. If you love nature-themed crochet, you’re going to adore bringing this festive wreath to life.
Whether you’re decorating for autumn or adding a handmade touch to your crochet Christmas wreath, this design blends soft textures, rustic charm and seasonal whimsy in one beautiful project.
This Christmas Wreath Crochet Pattern is a quick, stash-busting make that uses up all those little yarn leftovers you’ve been saving. Each motif offers a calming, mindful crochet moment, and many will feel comfortingly familiar if you’ve joined my woodland adventures before. Now they come together in a sweet, layered wreath perfect for celebrating autumn, winter and the festive season.
This pattern includes clear, step-by-step instructions to help you create your crochet Christmas wreath. There’s also a video tutorial to help you with any tricky bits!

I’m excited to share this new pattern, which is based on some of the motifs used in the Woodland crochet advent calendar pattern – a crochet advent calendar pattern filled with nature-inspired decorations and a beautiful wall hanging.
How do you make a crochet wreath pattern?
The crochet wreath pattern is super easy to make and perfect for using up leftover yarn from the Woodland advent calendar or another project.
We start by making all of the different motifs, following the instructions. Then comes the fun bit, arranging them how you like on your wreath base. Don’t worry, I show you how I did mine in the accompanying video tutorial.

Yarn
For the crochet wreath, you will need:
Scheepjes Catona, 100% Mercerized Cotton, (50g/1.76oz, 137yds/125m):
1 ball each of the following:
A: Snow white (106)
B: Hazelnut (503)
C: Topaz (179)
D: Lemon (280)
E: Fir (525)
F: Rust (388)
G: Sage Green (212)
H: Forest Green (412)
Yarn Alternatives
This pattern is designed to be used with a sport/fine weight cotton. However, you can use whatever yarn you would like. Using yarn from your stash is a great option for this pattern. If you use a different weight yarn, know that the motifs will come out a different size.
Here are a few alternative options you might like:
Yarn and Colors Must-Have, 100% Cotton (50g/1.76oz, 125m/137yds)
Comfy Sport, 75% Pima Cotton, 25% Acrylic (50g/1.76oz, 125m/136yds)
Premier Cotton Fair Solids, 52% cotton/48% acrylic (100g/3.5oz, 290m/317yds)
Supplies you will need
A tapestry needle for working in ends
Natural, rattan wreath base – any size will work for this design, mine was 12 inches (30cm)
Glue gun or super glue
Sizing
12 inches (30cm) diameter, but feel free to use any wreath size

Magic Ring (MR)
The magic ring is a fantastic way to start crocheting in amigurumi, and any crochet in the round. It can be a bit complicated though, so do check out my YouTube tutorial above for a visual guide.
- Lay the tail end of the yarn over your palm and wrap the ball end around your first 2 fingers. Cross the yarn over and hold that point with your thumb and forefinger.
- Pull the loop off your fingers, insert your hook into the hole and grab the ball end of the yarn with your hook.
- Pull the yarn back through the loop. At this point, readjust your hand so you are holding the yarn as you normally would.
- Put your middle finger and ring finger into the loop to hold it. Then yarn over and pull through to secure your ring.
Watch a video tutorial of the magic ring here.
Puff stitch
(yo, insert into st, yo and pull up a loop) 3 times, yo and pull through all 7 loops on hook.
Pattern Notes
Be sure to read through these notes before you start your crochet Christmas wreath – they will make it so much easier to understand the pattern!
- Read through the pattern completely before starting and refer to the stitch tutorials as needed.
- Stitch counts are given in this pattern in [ ] at the end of each row or round. Where no stitch count is given, it is the same as the previous row or round.
- Starting ch1 and ch2 does not count as a st.
- In the eucalyptus pattern, you will be required to turn and work back down the other side of the chain. To do this, rotate your work 180 degrees around and work into the other loop of the chain opposite to where you already worked.
- There are lots of ‘2tog’ stitches in this pattern — this means you begin two stitches as normal, stopping before the final yarn-over, then yarn-over and pull through all loops to finish them together. The same applies to 3tog and 4tog stitches working 3 or 4 part stitches, before completing them.
